This pair of superb glass inlays from the same bar represents the Greek serpentine deity Agathodaimon, the tutelary deity of Alexandria from the Ptolemaic Period onwards1. He was also a household god, conferring protection of the home in which he was worshipped, and the male counterpart of Isis-Thermouthis (a form of the snake harvest Egyptian goddess Renenutet)1, see slide 434. This is an ultra rare representation2
