Astarte was of West Semitic origin and was introduced into Egypt during the New Kingdom. She was portrayed as a nude woman crowned with either an atef or horns and riding a horse1. She was believed, as Anat, to protect the pharaoh’s chariot in battle1. Astarte amulets are very rare2
