Although the unification of lower and upper Egypt was a major political problem throughout dynastic times, such amulets are very rare. They are in sheet gold in the First Intermediate Period or in stone later on. They represent either the double crown, or the cobra and vulture, symbols of lower and upper Egypt, respectively1
